Why We're Here
A slower, more human way to discover ideas.
Squamish is home to libraries, bookstores, educators, makers, advocacy groups, and neighbours finding creative ways to share knowledge and resources. The Book & Lantern hopes to work alongside them, helping books, ideas, people, and local initiatives find one another.
Beyond algorithms, noise, and endless distraction, we are creating slower, more human ways to discover worthwhile books and learn together. Through sharing, conversation, and thoughtfully curated resources, we hope to nurture curiosity, strengthen community, and explore more connected and sustainable ways of living.

What We Explore
These are the kinds of books we love to share. Each title is chosen with purpose to offer important perspectives, examine the stories we have inherited, explore the living world, imagine healthier ways of living together, and make valuable or hard-to-find knowledge more accessible.

Through science, history, ecology, cultural reflection, imagination, and practical knowledge, the collection explores some of our largest questions: Where did we come from? What stories have shaped us? What is happening within our communities and the larger world? How might we live differently?
Â
Together, these books deepen our understanding of the world, our connections with one another, and our belonging within the wider community of life.
Understanding the world, and our place within it.
Get Involved
Help keep good books & ideas in circulation.
This project grows one book, one conversation, and one local connection at a time.

There are many ways to take part. Pass along a book you value, share a skill or idea, or help thoughtful resources reach someone new. Together, these contributions make knowledge more accessible and help The Book & Lantern grow as a shared community resource.

Every small act helps create a culture where curiosity is encouraged, useful knowledge is shared freely, and more people can discover books and ideas that might otherwise remain out of reach.
